HexSwarm: Hostile Worlds

We are proud to present our very first game, HexSwarm: Hostile Worlds. First born as an idea and project to work on during lockdown, it's grown into a lovingly crafted board game full of depth, tough descision making, and some other words. ngl gonna fix this later.

Art Credit

We want to give an extre special thanks to our artist for HexSwarm, who did such an amazing job bringing the game and the world to life. Without him, the game wouldn't be half of what it is today. Please make sure to check him out and see his other fantastic work.Alex Ruso is the primary artist for HexSwarm and almost everything you'll find illustrated within the box is his work, please check out his portfolio here.

FAQ and Specific Rules

In a perfect world, reading a card explains the card. With HexSwarm, part of our design includes specific cards changing the base rules of the game. Sometimes, this can lead to confusion. While we hope the rules are easy to intuit, we provide this section to help in spaces we think might be read more than one way.

Roles

Analyst: You get +1 Defense while standing on a tile with a Building, even during other players’
turns. If the Building is destroyed somehow, you lose the Defense bonus.
Biologist: You may spend your Move action without changing tiles to benefit from the
Biologists first ability during a turn.
Constructor: You may build on other players’ tiles during your turn, even if you’re not on that tile. The same applies for other players building on your tile during their turn. Normal restrictions still apply, such as Bugs being in the way and paying for your Buildings. The constructor’s discount still applies if your first Building is on another player’s tile. The discount only applies once.Frontliner: Other players on your tile may Build on your tile during their turn, even if there are Bugs in the way. Other restrictions for building a new building still apply, such as that player either being on the tile, or there already being a building on the tile.

Research

Blast Mining: If you use Blast Mining to destroy the last Rock on a tile, you only get 1 Material.

Objectives

No Mercy/Explosive Ordinance: Discards that have already been used when you draw this
Objective don’t count towards the task.

Evolutions

Scurrying Swarm: Bugs only flee when Players use a Stomp action or activate a Turret.
Discards that Squash Bugs don’t cause Bugs to flee, and you still Squash a number of Bugs equal to a tile’s Defense during the Fight step.

About our Members

Lead Robot Games, LLC is a two person team with a long history of game passion. While rather reclusive, we're happy to share a little about us here.

64bitrobot

Going by any permutation of their name you can consider, 64 is a passionate creator with a habit of medium jumping. Having a grab bag of knowledge has proved invaluable for the creation of board games, allowing them to make sure there's always room for prototyping when a new idea floats around.

LeadfootSlim

Lead has been modding games almost as long as he's been playing them. He believes that the best part of any game is the part where you're playing with your friends. This mindset is well suited to making games both working with, and against other players, because at the end of the day, the most important aspect of any game is walking away having had a good time with your pals.

Connect with Us

The easiest way to connect with us is to join our Discord, where we post updates on our projects, host playtests for both complete and WIP projects, and keep an eye out for any questions you might have.Join the Discord

Support Us

Our favorite part of making board games is having people play them. To this end, we make sure to keep up to date digital versions of our game on the Workshop for Tabletop Simulator on steam. This is a trade-off, since it means there's no incentive for there to be a purchased digital version of our games. If you wish to support us and help offset our operating costs and enable us to keep working, we accept Patreon donors. Right now, we don't have much to offer other than our thanks, but we are hoping to improve the rewards for our Patreons in the future.Visit our Patreon Page
